The job board

The job board answers the question you ask twenty times a day: where is the Papadopoulos job? Every approved quote lands here by itself — you don't re-enter anything.

How a job gets on

On the customer's first approval, full or partial. The quote becomes the job; they aren't two separate records you have to keep in sync. Everything the quote knows — customer, items, specs, files, emails — the card on the board knows too.

Freshly approved ones sit in a "Newly approved — drag into a stage" zone until you decide where they belong.

Two views

  • Board — columns per stage, you drag the cards. You see at a glance where work is piling up.
  • List — rows with customer, stage and deadline. Better when there are many jobs and you want to scan, not look.

The "Completed" button shows the ones that have closed — hidden by default, because the board is for what's running.

The card

On a card you read: customer, title, deadline and priority. The colour language is deliberately plain:

  • Normal — no marking
  • Urgent — orange stripe and an exclamation mark
  • Rush — red stripe and a lightning bolt
  • Overdue — the whole card turns red

One glance, no reading.

Inside the card: the production ticket

Click and you get what in the shop would be the sheet hanging on the press. It isn't a summary of the quote — it's a technical ticket:

  • Printing: press, sides, colours, plates, method, perfecting, varnish
  • Paper & imposition: final size, imposition sheet, ups, stock paper, stock sheets, printed sheets
  • Cutting guide — how the sheet gets cut
  • The linked file for each item, by name

Above it, the stage bar: click a stage to jump straight there, or Done to close the job. Below: deadline, priority and notes, all editable on the spot.

And the Folder button, which opens the job's folder on your computer through PressKit.

Completion

Done closes the job and tells PressKit to move the folder into _01 Archive. Clean board, clean disk — and nothing is deleted.

One thing to know about working together

The board doesn't update live between users. If a colleague moves a card you'll see it on your next page load, not the same instant. In practice it rarely bites, but it's worth knowing before you wonder why "it didn't move": refresh the page.
